| Country Dreamer An acoustic version of this single b-side to Helen Wheels. Just Paul on his guitar, recorded sometime in 1974 in his garden backyard for a little unreleased film called.... Backyard Hey Diddle Ram Outtake - from December, 1970, New York with additional country flavoured overdubs Soundshop Nashville, July, 1974 The Mess Tragedy Red Rose Speedway-outtakes, recorded on and off between May and October 1972. A live version of The Mess was released on 1973 b-side recorded in Hague, Netherland, 21 August 1972, but this is the unavailable Studioversion. Tragedy is a cover from 50`s Doo-Wop Group the Fleetwoods Wild life Recorded at Newcastle City Hall, 10 July 1973 Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Paul goes to Hollywood - via this musical style song, originally written for Twiggy in 1968. Performed by the man himself on his James Paul McCartney TV-Special, first telecast in the USA on April 16, and in the UK on May 10, 1973. Band On The Run Suicide Soily Three live-in-the-studio versions recorded for the unreleased One Hand Clapping, at Abbey Road Studios, Autumn 1974. Suicide was given to Frank Sinatra, who declined to record it. Treat her Gently - Lonely Old People/You Gave Me The Answer A short excerpt from on of Paul´s composing tapes, Paul on piano, running through his - at the time - unreleased canon of Songs. Recorded at his home, sometime 1974. Waterspout An outtake from London Town, November 1977. Same Time, Next Year Did We Meet Somewhere Before Two beautiful ballads, regretfully hidden away on some rare movie-soundtracks. The first was a rejected title song of a Michael Lindsay Hogg directed film, the second ended up on Rock High School Ramones Movie. Both tracks were taped at RAK studios, London, April 1978 Daytime Nighttime Suffering The often overlooked great b-side to Goodnight tonight, January 1979. Seems Like Old Times A piano demo of yet another unreleased song Ebony and Ivory Paul´s short 1980 home demo Rupert the Bear At the End of CD 1 we present you a 16-minute version of Paul´s unreleased soundtrack for an animated Rupert The Bear Film, a project that never came to be. The bulk of the material was recorded with Wings on One Day, 5 July 1978 The Musical parts consist of the following
|
On The Wings Of A Nightingale A simple acoustic 1983 demo for the Everly Brothers Yvonne´s The One Press To Play - Outtake from Fall 1985. A collaboration with Eric Stewart from 10 CC Twice In A Lifetime Another highlight of Paul´s rareties is this beautiful ballad from Spring 1983 Spies Like Us A short excerpt from the original 1985 demo to this Titlesong of this 1986 cinema film Your School I Can´t Write Another Song ...and that´s where we loosen up our chronogical formula a bit. Your School is a pianodemo from 1990. I Can´t Write Another Song apparently a little ditty from 1977 Hanglide Footprints Two more Press To Play - outtakes and, again two McCartney-Stewart collaborations from fall 1985. The first is an adventurous instrumental, the second a sparse rough mix, not so overproduced than on the album The Same Love Lindiana Return To Pepperland A bunc of mid 80`s - outtakes, which could bave been a part of never released 1987 McCartney Album, Return To Pepperland (20 Years later...). But this Album was shelved and, consequently, many songs from the Years `84 - `87 remain unreleased. And these are just three of them.... 25 Fingers So Like Candy Let´s make the way for the McCartney/Costello-Duo, perfroming two of their new compositions on acoustic guitar and vocals, fall 1987. This sounds great! Why didn´t do an album like this?!. 25 Fingers was never released, and So Like Candy was on Costello´s Album Mighty Like A Rose. This One A charming piano-based demo of this Flowers In The Dirt Track. From early 1988 We Got Married this version was recorded during rehearsals for Paul´s 1989/90 World Tour in early 1989 Summertime A great performance of this George Gershwin classic. Recorded Live on the first concert by the new band at a press conference an Playhouse Theatre, London, 27 July 1989. Strawberry Fields Forever/Help!/Give Peace A Chance Paul pays tribute to his dear friend John by performing this medley on his homecoming concert in Liverpool, King´s Dock Arena, 28 June 1990. Big Boys Bickering Live performance of this good old-fashioned protest song was done for MTV´s Up-close at the Ed Sullivan Theatre, New York 10 December, 1992. The song itself was a b-side to Hope of Deliverance. Mistress and Maid Hurray!! - a reunion from McCartney/Costello - Duo, taking place in honour of Prince Charles, St. James Palace, London, 23 March 1993. I Saw Her Standing There ...and voila another reunion. To celebrate the end of a good century for him, Paul and his new mates return to the new Cavern Club in Liverpool to rock ´n roll. 14 December 1999 Calico Skies We´ll end this Anthology like we started it! With our old warrior along on his acoustic guitar in 1995 a more tecent tune beside a crackling fire. Older now, his voice a bit hoarse (no wonder, after all this singing and shouting) but still around. We tip our heads in respect, Sir Paul McCartney! We hope, you too like our Anthology! Act 1 Justice Music from the animated film Daumier´s Law, 1990 |
