Excellent stereo/mono-recording take from the soudtrack from the 50-minute colour-documentary “THE BEATLES AT SHEA”, which was shown on english and american TV in 1966.
It has to be said, however, that NOT ALL of the tracks presented here are actual live-recordings from Shea, as the Beatles and their producer choose to “sweeten-up” the sound in order to present a high profile concert film to the TV-Audience. That meant, for example , the re-recording of I FEEL FINE and HELP at a London Studio on 5 January 1966. The opener TWIST AND SHOUT heard in the film replaced by the unreleased Hollywood Bowl Concert from 30.08.1965 and the version of ACT NATURALLY heard in the film was the studio-version from HELP ! We´ve taken the liberty her to present you the live-version taped for the “ED SULLIVAN SHOW”, 14.08.1965! Two songs from the concert, SHE`S A WOMAN and EVERYBODY`S TRYING TO BE MY BABY were ommited from the soundtrack, but the latter was made available on ANTHOLOGY 2, so we took it from there
.

The Missing concert! All in all the Beatles gave three concerts at this splendid outdoor arena - one in 1964, two in the following year. All three were recorded foa ap possible live-album. But in the end, only portions from two concerts (23 August 1964 & 30 August 1965 were released in 1977 on the “LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL” LP.
The Live recording of this concert from 29 August was never used, mainly because of technical problems. Only John´s vocal is audible on the first three numbers - which virtually turns SHE´S A WOMAN into an instrumtal. But it´s a good show nonetheless-in excellent stereo
